My Precious Corner

Hell! o

Since I was a little girl I had close encounters with personal spaces. I remember my mom, as an educator and investigator, was working on a project in which there would be themed micro spaces in a classroom, let’s say: the painting corner, the puzzle, cooking, dolls and so corners, so kids would have a better sense of space and organization. I found the idea fascinating and as a kid myself I tried to recreate it at home. Of course it would work for a few hours, until all the family is back from work and school and start moving stuff around.

My mother always provided us (my sister and I), besides an awesome home, with furniture and other elements to make a space our own. I enjoyed so much organizing clothes, accessories, make up, stationary…my dad would get us the best professional brand art supplies and pens for school that would come in fancy metallic containers (a little of his obsession too). It was a thrill to neatly organize them.

Later on, after life getting in the way, I became a designer and inevitable started getting sewing and drawing supplies. For a while I lived the dream, living in a two bedroom apartment -in south america of course. I designed my work table and surroundings and every weekend would go get stuff to the Home Depot and put it together myself. Those were so much fun times! My girlfriends would come all the time and work on projects for hours!

Then of course, real life gets in the way again and as an adult I have to make ends meet, and living in New York…paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty…where every inch of land is so ridiculously expensive, and we are to live in these little apartments in which I can only do so much. Can’t complaint though. I have my cozy work space. But my husband always reminds me that the place of my dreams is already there in Bolivia, where the huge house of us is, where I can choose which room to use and decorate as I’d like! When he says that I respond in a whisper…I like it here for now…♥

Yep! My space includes a naughty-chirpy cat ♥

These are some furniture and space ideas I found along time and wanted to share with all designers, crafters and makers that dream of the perfect work space.

These three pictures above show furniture from:                              Crazy intelligent and creative people that took organizing to the next level!

Just a cozy space

Finally a post about drawers! Oh wait….wrong kind of drawers. (; I like you here for now, too! NY is the best place to build micro spaces. One might even say a DREAM place. (hint, hint) (:
